Lately we celebrated Deviant Art's 15th birthday. All of us got a well done
advertising message how fine everything around DA is.The core members
(formerly known as premium members) got a (ugly) red sign besides their
name. But this is finally a question of taste.
As well as they notice us about every little and mostly unwanted change of
DA's interface, there was no word about this change. No notice, no journal,
nothing. While renaming the membership they raised the price for one year
from 2400 points to 4000 points(50USD).I know they kept the old price for a
long time but it is definitely wrong to do it this way.Communication is
what keeps a community strong. This behaviour is like firing someone while
he is on vacation.
What's up with DA's staff to do such things without explanation? It is not
really expensive, but maybe to expensive for a lot of our young DA
members.Although the difference between free membership and core membership
is to small to keep the offer attractive. It is more a kind of donation. But
most people don't wanna be forced to donate.I can't believe this tactic
will be successfull.
I heard some rumours that DA is in need to get more money because the
rebranding and the servers cost a lot, and that they fired half of the
staff without telling them why.Next fail in communication.Once again:
What's up here?
You cannot run a big community like Da and ignore what the members want.It
will have a bad end sooner or later.
I don't think Da will care abou this, but i don't wanna give up hope.
By the way:We have no community volunteer for customization since months.
We cannot upload exe files since years.
We lost our beloved webcam.
We got a new branding which needs a very long explanation to
tell what it is.
We got some more annoying changes noone needs.
Help to wake up DA's staff before it is to late.
If you repost this in your group, the avatar of your group will be shown on
this journal.Let's stand together to get some changes to avoid DA from
dying.Bring back the spirit of the good old days of DA.
